Make Ghanaian meat pie

ghanaian meat pieHey friends,
Hope you’re doing well, and if not, I hope things change soon.

Today, I will be sharing with you all how to make Ghanaian meat pie. I have heard it is similar to empanadas, made by Latinos, except that empanadas, from what I know are fried and Ghanaian meat pies are baked.

**fun fact: In Ghana, certain people fry theirs too, my mom was telling me.**

ghanaian meat pie

1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
3 sticks of butter
1 onion (add more if you like)
1 egg
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 can of corned beef (or meat of your choice)

ghanaian meat pieI first make the dough by combining the flour, baking powder, butter and egg.

tip: add the egg after the dough is a bit formed

Once it begins to brown, the meat pie is done, or you can use the “cake test”- inert a tooth pick into the dough, if it comes out clean then it is done.

sidenote: If you are not a meat lover, you can use your favorite vegetables as a filling.

I hope you enjoyed this post and you try making it yourself. Do let me know if you try it, I will love to know how it turned out and what you used as your filling.

much love
